The Shrine with a Single Red Torii

Shirahama Shrine, also known as Ikonabi Hime Shrine, is a Shinto shrine located along the coast of Shimoda City and is characterized by a single red torii gate located facing the sea on a huge coral reef called Dai Myojin Iwa and is connected by a rope to the next reef on the side of the torii gate.

Beyond Dae Myojin Iwa is Shirahama Ohama Beach, where the contrast between the white sand, formed from volcanic ash and pumice from underwater volcanic eruptions, and the blue sea is spectacular.

Besides the breathtaking view that the sanctuary boasts, it is very popular with tourists seeking prosperity for business, marriage and travel.
