Handcrafted organic umeboshi from Yuasa Noen farm, made from ume plums grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers and salted with natural sea salt ‘Umi n Manma – Ichi no Shio’ from Kakara Island. JAS organic certification. Yuasa Noen Umeboshi are Japanese plums (ume) traditionally dried and salted, produced by a fifth-generation family-run farm located in the Takasaki-Haruna area of Gunma Prefecture.
No pesticides or synthetic chemical fertilisers are used throughout the cultivation period: the plums are preserved exclusively with salt, in full accordance with traditional Japanese methods. In this variant, the brine is prepared with the natural sea salt “Umi n Manma – Ichi no Shio’, produced by hand on the small island of Kakara, off the coast of Karatsu (Saga Prefecture), known for the high purity and mineral richness typical of Japanese sea salts obtained using traditional methods. The product is certified organic according to the Japanese JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard), a guarantee of sustainable cultivation free from synthetic chemicals.
Umeboshi have an intensely sour and salty flavour, typical of traditional Japanese cuisine: perfect for enjoying with white rice, as an accompaniment to onigiri, bento boxes and traditional dishes, or as a natural digestive aid after meals.
