Handcrafted organic umeboshi from Yuasa Noen farm, made from ume plums grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers and salted with homemade ‘umeshio’ (自家製梅塩), a naturally flavoured salt obtained from the brine of the umeboshi themselves. Yuasa Noen Umeboshi are Japanese plums (ume) traditionally dried and salted, produced by a fifth-generation family-run farm located in the Takasaki-Haruna area of Gunma Prefecture.
No pesticides or synthetic chemical fertilisers are used throughout the cultivation period: the plums are preserved exclusively with salt, in full accordance with the traditional Japanese method. In this variant, the plums are salted using ‘umeshio’ (梅塩), which is handcrafted on-site by the farm itself: a naturally flavoured salt formed during the traditional umeboshi production process, rich in the tangy and savoury flavour typical of the ume plum. The product is certified organic according to the Japanese JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard), a guarantee of sustainable cultivation free from synthetic chemicals.
Umeboshi have an intensely sour and salty flavour, typical of traditional Japanese cuisine: perfect for enjoying with white rice, as an accompaniment to onigiri, bento boxes and traditional dishes, or as a natural digestive aid after meals. Produced in Japan.
